This retired old teacher wears an apron with the names of his students decorating it. He carefully carves pieces for the new cow piece. He says it takes upwards of 5 years just to get to that stage of the cow and painting may take another 5-10 years.

Here is the final product of all the hardworking volunteers at the Albany Carousal. Years of work is put into each animal but the final product makes it worth it.

Blog Post Week 10

This term I would say the best photo I have taken is the one of the OSU student high fiving the little girl at the run. While the photo was not perfect I loved the expressions and feeling that the photo gave. This photo reflects what I have learned about taking action shots, making the faces visible and capturing a moment. Between the beginning of the term and now I now know to always shoot someone from the front, get their name, and capture interesting angles.

For class I want to be able to take pictures that are good enough to add to the school paper. Along with that I want to get more comfortable talking to strangers and people I do not necessarily know. Finally I want to contribute to the paper through good stories.

Looking back I think I achieved these things for the most part. I had two or three good photos in the commuter  which were of Sam Grove by the water fountain, and Kane Weekly’s portrait. My ability to talk to strangers has also grown. When having to go to the carousel and interview people it was much easier because I had talked to so many new people  through the term.

This Murel is painted on the side of a building down on first street. The painting represents some type of angel with the man's wide stretched arms.

Addario Reflection

     I like chapter 8 of the book because it shows how Addarios's confidence ha been built up since the beginning of the book. She used to be unsure at times and scared of the new places and the conflicts going on there. In chapter 8 however she starts of by saying "I feel more fortune to be an independent, educated women." She now appreciate and is comfortable with her situation. The chapter reflects his because it is much slower paces then most chapter. Rather than the military conflict she is used to she instead is conflicted about a man. Chapter 8 does not have a photo but in chapter 7 I like the very last photo of the women walking in the wind.  I learned in this chapter that it is hard to live conventional life as a photojournalist.
     My second favorite chapter is chapter 10. I love how right after she talks about her love for Paul and the thought of a Family she can't turn away her work and passion. My favorite quote is the last sentence of chapter 10 which is "I couldn't take it anymore and I got on a plane. I was headed to Libya." It shows Addario is not able to live that normal life and she feels she must get away. My favorite photo is the boy with the bandaids on his face. The photo just has such great expression. In this chapter I again was reinforced with the fact that photojournalists can't live norma lives.

Blog Forum Week 7

Hometown:
For the neighborhood/hometown assignment I am going to photograph the city of Albany. I am choosing Albany because it is where i have lived my entire life and I think it would be interesting to look st it from a different perspective and try to capture some interesting photos. For the photo I take I could take a photo of a pedestrian as my subject and then I could take a photo of the carousel for my landmark picture. For the activity I could possibly take photos of people riding the carousel. The photo that will pose the biggest challenge will be the subject one because I will need to actually interact with people.

2 Photo Story:
For my photo story I could do Paris Barton who is a photographer. I will document her time doing different shoots. I will start doing this next week and do it a few days throughout a couple weeks. I will do it wherever she is doing her photo shoots at. That may be in downtown corvallis or in a park or in a field or even at her house. I plan to document her throughout the shooting process so that means makeup, shooting pictures and perhaps even editing. I will do this by having my camera read yat all times and asking her what she’s doing prior to the shoot so I have a general idea.

CARDV Sports Shots

During the CARDV Walk/Run at Oregon State University many volunteers line the path for the walkers. They all encouraged the runners and walkers and always made sure to offer a hi-five to the children who walk by.

More Oregon State student stand and encourage both the walkers and the runners during the CARDV Walk/Run 5k.

100's of people gather for the CARDV Run/Walk in Corvallis on May 11th of 2019. Those Young and Old stand together to support CARDV's mission of taking action against domestic abuse.

Paris Barton Portrait Free Shoot

Paris Barton

Paris is someone whose true passion is art and photography. The best place to shoot her would be her room where she takes most of her photos for her shoots. I think the prop that would work the best is simply her camera. I was able to take her picture in the middle of a shoot she was doing so the lighting worked well.
